Eric and Crystal's Wedding

This has been the summer of weddings!  We are attending three wedding this summer (this is huge for us)!  My husband and I recently attended my friend Crystal's wedding.  Crystal and I first met in college and were friends instantly.  We met in one of our graphic design classes and works as partners on a project.  We shared the same seriousness and creativity.  After graduation, we worked on a mural project and kept in touch discussing portfolios, interviews, and our marketing careers.  I knew Crystal's wedding would be beautiful - full of special details.  She had gorgeous purple flowers everywhere from her wedding cake, her hair, centerpieces, and even the mantle piece!  Crystal and Eric dated for 10 years.  They are both really great people and it brought such joy to see them "tie the knot."  Congratulations!!!!

How to Choose the Right Wedding Gown

The process of planning a wedding can be very overwhelming.  Shopping for the wedding dress is such a crucial part of the planning process.  While shopping, one of my friends said "it's all about the dress."  Yes and No.  It's important to choose something that doesn't dominate and allows your natural beauty to shine through.  I like to make the accessories the focal point more than just the dress.

When you first walk into that bridal shop it's easy to start picking the wrong gowns.  My first inclination was to go for something very trendy with tons of beads and ruffles.  It looked ridiculous on me and not to mention it was very heavy to wear.  You need to consider you will be wearing this dress for an entire day.  Can you move around in it?  Can you dance?

I thoroughly researched different styles of wedding gowns and what works with which body shape.  The wedding gown should reflect your personality and style, but remember your style today might be different in 20 years.

If you're short - empire waist, column style

If you're tall - ballgown

A-line styles work on just about any body type - they're extremely flattering

I feel so moved by all of the love and support from my friends and family.

I LOVE you all!  Thank you for your unconditional love.  I've lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo, NY, and now Connecticut.  Moving around has really taught me a number of accents, an appreciation for ketchup and LOVE of Buffalo wings, and above all how many great people there are in the world.  I feel so grateful.  Good people are hard to come by and when you find them it's like finding a four leaf clover.

A Retro Flare

Neon is such a hot trend this summer.  Pictured here is our reversible hater top and denim tiered skirt.

Pictured above is our model, Ali, rockin the halter top with our denim pin, upcycled denim skirt, and Rice Rafferty birdcage veil.
These pieces are from our denim collection, made from vintage 1960s fabric.  All items are mix and match.

Rock On

Move over Dixie Chicks, here comes Angie Marie and The Outskirts.  They're a Rock-Country Band with a folk twist.   Check them out!

The Signature Pattern

I recently designed a signature textile design for a fashion jewelry company.  They wanted a branded pattern that would communicate the company's trademark and aesthetic.  The pattern was used on a reusable tote bag I designed, a cosmetic case, and an umbrella.  The bold black and white patterning contrasts nicely with the pop of neon color.  I loved working on this project and am now so pleased to see it these items in Bloomingdale's, Belk, The Bay, Dillards, and Macy's.

Our Hometown Star

I love inspirational stories and really admire people who go out there in the world and take risks following their dreams.  Our girl, Nikki, is sure to make waves.

Our hometown girl, Nikki Dinki, is on Food Network Star.  Nikki also grew up in Clarence, NY (outside of Buffalo) and now lives in NYC.  Rice Rafferty has been a fan of her food blog and videos for years.  Nikki is a fan of us too!  Pictured here, Nikki is wearing one of our infinity circle scarves.  Nikki's instructional cooking videos with an emphasis on "meat on the side" are truly inspirational.  Every dish she makes seriously makes my mouth water.  Unfortunately, Nikki was voted off The Food Network Star last night, but Nikki is a star in our eyes and we know she will continue to do great things!

Custom Veil Design for Kate

Best wishes to our bride Kate and her husband!  Recently we designed a custom headpiece for Kate.  Her wedding was at historic Chautauqua Institute, located on Chautauqua Lake. It's a breathtaking campus known for its performing arts programs and I highly recommend visiting.

Kate wanted to incorporate the light pink silk chiffon material from her bridesmaid dresses in her headpiece.  Kate wanted a traditional look with a modern twist.  We designed an ivory bubble veil for her to wear during the ceremony with her headpiece.  Afterwards, she wore the pink and ivory hair clip.  She looks so gorgeous!  It was a pleasure working with you, Kate!  xoxo

Happy 4th of July!  I feel so blessed to live in a such a beautiful area with the love of my life.   These are some of my favorite nautical spots around town.  Life is meant to lived and enjoyed.  There is no point in stressing about things; life is too short.
