Custom Ivory Flower Hair Adornment

 

We've been busy bees working in our studios for brides in the Buffalo, NY area.  Above is our work in progress for a bride who wanted a unique floral element for her hair.  We are making an ivory organza flower with a little bling, some pearls in the middle, and next we're going to add some wispy feathers.  Handmade flowers made in chiffon or organza can be created in any shade or size.  The great thing about these flowers is you can clip it in your hair to wear to wear with your veil or alone, pin it on a dress on a later date, or clip it on a sash and wear as a belt.  We love versatility.  

We want our accessories to be items you can enjoy years to come.  Enjoy them on your wedding day and on other special occasions.

Custom Veils

We were recently contacted by a friend of mine who noticed my mother and I make wedding veils.  She said she loves our designs, her friend is getting married in Oct....only problem is she is bald.  She asked if we would still be interested.  I immediately responded, "absolutely!"

Ladies who are bald often worry the most about the wedding veil.  We've been working up some really creative design ideas for women who are bald. Favorite Veil

This is one of our most popular birdcage veils.  I call it a double blusher veil and I've found it's one of the most easy to wear veils.  After your ceremony you simply pull back the blusher and it becomes a second layer in the back.

Trash the Dress

 

We recently purchased this '80s wedding gown from Goodwill.   We wanted to dismantle the dress and up cycle the pieces into necklaces, hair adornments, garters, etc.  Before we started our own version of "trash the dress" we decided to take a photo of the dress.  It's funny how quickly wedding industry trends change.  In the '80s and '90s the more beads, sequins, and poofs the better.  The dress was actually pretty heavy too.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was 20 lbs or more.  Today, I feel simplicity is key.  Let your own natural beauty shine instead of adding lace on lace on every part of you.  We'll post more pics soon!

A Tea Party Shower Fit for a Princess

My mom and I always loved tea parties.  Here is some inspiration for a tea party shower for a bride-to-be.  Home baked scones, hot tea served in my great grandmothers 1900 China made in Buffalo, NY.  We're very sentimental and love to include items from our relatives who are no longer with us. 
All you need for a Tea Party Themed Shower:

- your favorite tea
- fresh fruit
- chicken salad (homemade with curry is my favorite!)

Feather Birdcage Veil for Bride-to-Be

 

 

We just finished a custom birdcage veil for a bride.  She wanted a veil that was smaller in size to compliment the one shoulder wedding gown.  I'm so thrilled with how it turned out.  The contrast of the white feathers with the bleached ivory peacock feathers adds such a unique look with the vintage rhinestone pin.  We can't wait to see the brides photos!

Custom Feather Veil

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!  I'm working on a custom bridal veil right now for a bride-to-be for her wedding at the end of this month.  She wanted something unique and delicate to work with the sleek and sophisticated dress she chose.  The veil is a birdcage style russian veiling bandeau which will have the feather ornamentation and antique brooch one one side.  I'm using white feathers, bleached peacock feather, and russian veiling.  Will post more pics soon!

How to Add DIY Touches to Your Wedding or Party

 

It's a rainy day here and I finally had some time to organize my wedding photos.  I was never the girl who had her whole wedding day mapped out, but I did know one thing.  I wanted my wedding day to be oozing with personal touches.  I work in marketing and graphic design, so I wanted to make the invitations, programs, table numbers, and escort cards for my wedding.  

Our wedding theme was Buffalo history and romantic DIY (nouveaux antique style).  We used a bright pink and soft green throughout every little detail of our day.  My mom and I made the veil, garter, cake topper, and embellishments for the dress.  We used vintage 1940's pins from my grandmother (who isn't alive anymore) in the headpiece and on the dress.  Adding these personal details make the day memorable for you as well as the guests.  The top photo shows photos I placed inside a locket that I pinned on my bouquet.  My grandparents died 17 years ago, but I wanted to share the day with them.  The wedding was in the Buffalo Historical Museum so I designed table numbers with photographs of Buffalo during the Pan American Exposition, fun historical facts, and gave each table a name.  The escort card holders doubled as bells, so people could ring the bell instead of clinging their glasses.  I'm not one for giving speeches or singing, so making these little details was a way of making the day more intimate and sharing a little bit extra about myself with my guests.
